We are delighted to announce that Donate Life Connecticut is once again partnering with the Hartford Marathon Foundation as an official charitable organization. Due to continued COVID-19 concerns, the Hartford Marathon and all additional races will take place virtually between October 8-11th.

In an unprecedented event, the Hartford Marathon Foundation will be donating 100% of all registration fees to participating charitable organizations, including DLC.

If you are interested in participating in the marathon, half marathon, 5K, new 10K or any other multi-distance run challenge listed, please register here. Each race registration fee is only $25!

Donate Life Connecticut's Curriculum Project

Help get the word out! Do you know a Connecticut teacher in grades 6th-12th? Donate Life Connecticut wants you to help us get the word out.

Donate Life Connecticut has a FREE 11 day curriculum designed for 6th-12th grades in science and health related courses. This curriculum includes group activities, videos, is connected to the NGSS standards and continues our mission to bring awareness to organ donation and transplantation.

Please email Melanie at donatelifect@gmail.com if you are interested in contacting a local CT school district about Donate Life Connecticut's FREE 11 Day education curriculum.

Due to COVID-19, we will not be hosting an in-person Toast To Life event this year. Instead we have planned a very special virtual musical event where we will debut brand new songs written specifically for DLC and our amazing organ donation & transplantation community. This volunteer-based coalition believes that working together with a common voice is the best way to reach the goal of increasing the donor registry, which will inevitably impact the number of transplants that give new life and hope to people suffering from fatal illness or life threatening injury.

Donate Life Connecticut is dedicated to the purpose of public education and awareness for all Connecticut residents concerning the lifesaving benefits of organ and tissue donation and increasing the number of registered donors.

 Transplant Games of America

scheduled for July 2020 has been rescheduled to July 2021

The Transplant Games of America are scheduled at The Meadowlands in New Jersey!  Please visit their website for updates at Transplant Games of America.

As many of you know we had to cancel all of our major fundraisers for 2020 due to COVID-19.  We have had a number of people ask about how they can help us during this global crisis.  The most convenient way for you would be to make a direct contribution to our organization.  It is 100% tax-deductible and goes directly to help DLC continue to raise awareness of organ and tissue donation while we all follow social distancing and stay-at-home guidelines as the state begins to reopen.

Please consider making a contribution to DLC or perhaps consider donating unused tickets to one of our canceled events.  We appreciate your support during this difficult time.   THANK YOU!

In keeping with our mission to educate and raise awareness about organ donation, Donate Life Connecticut has launched a television media campaign. Please enjoy the informative videos below.

Organ Donation

Organ donation is the process of giving an organ or a part of an organ for the purpose of transplantation into another person.  Organ donation can occur with:

  • a deceased donor, who can give kidneys, pancreas, liver, lungs, heart, intestinal organs

  • a living donor, who can give a kidney, or a portion of the liver, lung, intestine, or pancreas

Cornea Donation

Cornea donation is necessary for the preservation and restoration of sight. That's because the cornea is the clear dome-like window covering the front of the eye that allows the light to pass through to the retina, which enables us to see.

When consent for donation is given, corneas must be surgically removed from a deceased donor within twelve hours of their death. Very few conditions exclude people from cornea donation.

Tissue Donation

Donated tissues such as skin, bone and heart valves can dramatically improve the quality of life for recipients, and even save lives.

Most tissues are donated after death by people who previously committed to donation. Unlike organs, tissues can be donated up to 24 hours after a person's heart has stopped beating.
